iSeries Page Range Printing
Many PC users need to print just a few pages from a file located on the AS/400. Normally, the AS/400 supports printing a specific range of pages, however, when using TCP/IP printing, specifying a page range has no effect. RPM Remote Print ManagerĀ® can easily perform AS400 page-range printing!

The AS/400 does not support page range printing (via TCP/IP) with a “remote outq” as with a standard outq. The AS/400 bundles the print stream into a file after the Host Print Transform is performed and then sends the complete file in TCP/IP packets according to the buffer size.
RPM supports AS400 starting and ending page
The AS/400 still spools the entire file, but RPM prints only the pages specified. All queue types support this option; however, the RPM Queue is the most accurate.
To control the starting and ending page:
- Download and install RPM on a Windows’ platform
- Hold the queue in RPM
- Send the job from the AS/400
- Double click on the job to open the RPM Operator Job Control dialog
- Enter the starting and ending pages
- Release the job by un-checking the “HOLD Print jobs” option
